Fishing in Pauanui provides snapper, kingfish,
terakihi, gurnard and kahawai(sea trout)and in the warmer summer months, marlin and tuna.

Crayfish and scallops (in season) are plentiful for the divers, and for the spearfishermen, kingfish and cod.
